  These page formats are different from the on the tutorials I am following. I want to start afresh.

  Hi dpol1! If you delete your blog, you will lose all the content AND the url as well. Neither is recoverable. Sounds like that’s not what you want to do, so here are some steps for starting over with your current url:

  a) Empty your site of content, etc.

  b) Make it private while you’re working on it, if you like. This hides it from outside viewing, and you can change it back to public whenever.

  c) You may be seeing tutorials for self-hosted wordpress.org installs (which don’t apply to your hosted wordpress.com account). You can start learning about how to use your wordpress.com site here instead: learn.wordpress.com
