Delete a Heading (HOME) and it's erroneous page

    How do I delete a “Page not found” with a heading “HOME”? There is no content on it, and no “edit” button. It doesn’t show up on my Pages list because I deleted it there, thinking that would get rid of it. And I have recreated a new HOME page–so now I have 2 HOME headings. The first one should be deleted. HELP!

    Hi there,

    It looks like you’ve got a couple of problems!

    You’ve got your site set to have a static front page (I assume you had the HOME page set as the front page originally), but since you deleted it, your site is now going to a 404 error page. You can fix that by logging in to your Dashboard and then going to Settings >> Reading and selecting a new page to be your home page.

    As for your menu, you will want to go to Appearance >> Menu and do two things. First, click the Menu Locations tab and make sure that your menu is selected as active. Then go back to the Edit Menus tab and make sure you’ve got all of the menu items in place that you want and then click save! Your site should work how you want it at that point!

    Thanks for your correct help on HOME (my static page). I just checked my other pages, and PRESS RELEASES has Officers info. I lost my press releases. I gather I go to google cache and may find the lost info there?

    What content are you missing exactly? I do see one image link on the ‘Press Release’ but it links to an e-mail account. You might want to save the image on your computer first and then upload it to the page.

    I had a 1 page long press release about out Garden Tour, a poster for the Tour, a poster for Kirkwood Gardens Day. Instead I now have Officers which has its own page.

    I can’t say for sure where that content is but you might want to check the page revisions of your pages to see if you can find and restore something.
