delete a registered domain

Would you tell me how to delete a registered domain?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

DON’T DELETE IT – that will mess up your search engine results – I think you want to purchase domain forwarding to send traffic from your old site to your new location – otherwise people getting to your web site from a search engine will run into a blank wall – or you can do what you have done already – a note and a link to your new site –

I would change the text size on the link to make it jump out a bit more

Thanks auxclass. I just realized my question was wrong. Actually I do keep the registered domain. I do not want letsgoottawa.ca to redirect to WP site. I want letsgoottawa.ca to redirect to our main site: ottawatourism.ca site.

I think you have a couple of other options – you should be able to forward letsgoottawa.ca to your new site (that would be done at your registrar) – that would sort of just dump search engines and old bookmarks to the URL you forward it to – bit awkward but visitors still get to your new site

You can also have more than one domain name mapped to a web site but only one can be the Primary domain (displayed in the browser address bar) – the mapping would need to be done at your new site

Probably some other options – ask your web folks – I will also flag this for the staff to see if they have other advice for you

    Hi there,

I can remove the mapping that makes your letsgoottawa.ca domain point to your ottawajantine.wordpress.com blog. Would you like me to do so?

After I remove the mapping you will need to update your domain’s name servers to point to wherever your new site is hosted. You should be able to update your domain’s name servers through your domain registrar.

    Best!
