DELETE a site

    I am having a very hard time with the wordpress site over all. The templates don’t seem to suit my needs. i built a second site titled ‘portfoliosharonelaine’ and the template i chose there doesn’t meet my needs either. Uggg. I would like to delete the site ‘portfoliosharonelaine’ and then build it again by choosing a different template. i wish there were an easier way to do this. i want to keep the domain name but not the template, i guess the only way to do this is to simply delete the site and start all over? Will the domain name still be available once i delete it?

    Empty the site content and then you can start again and even switch themes.

    You must be logged in under the username account that registered the site first. Then to empty the site and keep the URL you have two options:
    (1) Doing this quickly and easily yourself http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/
    (2) Waiting in a queue and having Staff do it for you.

    If you have a lot of content Staff can empty the whole blog for you. That will remove all data including posts, pages, tags, categories, comments, and uploaded files and once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blogs and/or blog content does not remove indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):

    If you are sure you want Staff to proceed, and you are prepared to wait then type modlook into the tags in the sidebar of this thread for Staff attention, and post here again to:
    (1) confirm the URL of the blog(s) you want them to empty;
    (2) confirm that you know content deletion is irreversible.

    re: switching themes

    Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.

    Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

    The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
