Delete a telephone number at th top

    TEL: [redacted] or [redacted] Email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    The above is at the very top of my web page http://www.adflags.eu
    I can edit everything else on the site, but not this line which is at the top of the site and seems embedded.
    I must remove these phone numbers from here.

    I have lost the contacts of the people who designed the site.

    Hi,

    It appears that your website uses the self-hosted version of WordPress rather than WordPress.com, which is what this forum is designed to help with. Note the difference here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    You may be able to find help here: https://wordpress.org/support/ or alternatively contact your hosting provider.

    I’ve also tagged staff to redact those two phone numbers as this is a public forum. Sadly though, I keep getting an error message when trying to tag “remove personal info”?

    Hello there, I’ve removed the telephone number which appears at the top of your site from appearing here in our public forum.

    I have lost the contacts of the people who designed the site

    Perhaps Staff can advise what would be the best way forward if you cannot locate the contact information for your site designer.

    @torres126 I didn’t remove the “remove personal info” tag since you mentioned you were having difficulty adding the tag. What error message did you get while trying to add it?

    @justjennifer I got a pop up saying “This tag could not be added” or something along those lines (can’t recall the exact phrasing) and it didn’t show the tag was added either.

    Hi @alanfairley,

    As others have mentioned your site is using the self-hosted version of WordPress from WordPress.org and not the version we host here at WordPress.com. This means that we don’t have access to make changes to your site directly like the sites we host.

    From taking a quick look at the site it appears the phone numbers are being added via your site’s header. After making sure you have a backup I would look at your theme’s header.php file to see if it was modified directly.

    If you don’t have SFTP or access to the site’s hosting perhaps reaching out to LCN who appears to be the host can get you access to the site.

    @justjennifer    , @torres126 I occasionally will get the “This tag could not be added” alert when the tag has already been added but it is not showing in the sidebar. I find that refreshing the page to check if the tag is there and if not re-adding it works. Not sure why that happens though.

    @bdukes It happens a lot, just this time refreshing didn’t show it. Not sure why that was, probably was a one-off incident though as it hasn’t seemed to happen since. :)

    @torres126, one thing the forums have taught me is to log out and clear my browser cache and cookies daily. Unfortunately it hasn’t helped with the caching issue.
