Hello.
Please keep in mind that once you choose to deactivate your account, you’ll NEVER be able to re-use its WordPress.com address again. There are several options you can choose from rather than choosing to delete the site permanently.
* Change your site’s address and keep your content
https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/* Delete old posts and continue using the same address
https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/#deleting-posts* Empty your site of all its content for a fresh start and continue using the same address
https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/* Transfer your site to someone else
https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account* Make your site private so only people you invite can see it
https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/If you do NOT wish to choose one of the options above and are certain that you wish to delete your site permanently, you can follow this link https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Again, please make certain you will never want to reuse the address, as it will no longer be available for use after deleted/deactivated.
Hope this information is helpful!

HI
Thanks for your reply. I did see this but I can’t get my brains round it. Why isn’t there a simpkle “Delete” button?

Andy,
I would imagine that deactivating an account is a difficult task because once you delete a blog you will not be able to get it back and no one else will be able to use that blog address. Sometimes by making things more difficult, it saves accidental deletion/deactivation.
If you follow the link above, it will walk you through how to deactivate.
If you have difficulty, you have the option of adding the modlook tag to this thread to make sure Staff sees it.
