  Hi there,

  if you wish to abandon your WordPress.com, all exact steps are described in the documentation at

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

  but please note in advance, that username accounts are never to be removed from WordPress.com. This is supposed to prevent impersonation, if someone registers under the exact user name and posts something, leaving other people thinking that it was you.

  The procedure of emptying/deleting/removing all personal information before going inactive is slightly inconvenient, and includes:

  – removing everything except account name (for that, go to https://wordpress.com/me/account)
  – unsubscribing from all emails (go to https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications)
  – generate a long, random password that you won’t remember so you won’t be tempted to log in again. You can also point the e-mail that you registered with the blog to something else.
  – hide the Gravatar profile (for that, http://en.gravatar.com/support/profile-privacy)

  Note that if you blog was already indexed by search engines, the content stays there for awhile, and there’s not an easy way to remove your blog from there.
