Here’s how to deactivate your account:
All you were required to provide to register an account here was an email address that can be replaced at any time. Any personal information that you voluntarily posted can also be removed at any time.Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html4. To hide your Gravatar profile, login and on the bottom right hand corner of your Gravatar profile page you will find a “hide” button visible only to you that you can click.

I’m sorry but that’s they way it is here. You either deactivate the account or you don’t. The choice is yours to make.

Yes, you can and you will find that is that you entered a binding contract on July 9, 2009 under American contract law and that’s the only law that applies here. When you clicked the checkbox saying you had read the Terms of Service and that you agreed to them in order to register an account that was a contract. You will likely be advised to help yourself by doing what I posted above because you can remove all your information and enter a throw away email address.

You may be right, but I can’t find a word about your right to denial of users asking for deleting accounts. I found only that I may stop using WP if I don’t agree with the Terms. “I may” but not “I have to”.

I’ll tag this thread for a Staff response. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. Note there is a backlog so you will have to wait patiently for the reply, which is going take longer to get than doing what I already posted above, and which will not change what I already posted as you can confirm that here http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

Hi Andrzej,
Timethief is correct — it isn’t possible to delete WordPress.com accounts.
Since we don’t want other people to have your username in the future, we don’t delete usernames (they are kept so they cannot be recycled). Here’s a few suggestions for you if you’d like to scrub the account:
1) Disconnect the self-hosted WordPress site linked to your account. (You can do that by logging in to the self-hosted site’s dashboard, going to the Jetpack section, and disconnecting Jetpack from WordPress.com.
2) If you are trying to unsubscribe from emails sent to you from WordPress.com, go to your notifications settings and click on “Block Emails.”
3) You can also go to your account settings to remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This will only leave the username behind.
4) To ensure the account is locked up tightly, create a strong password and change the account password to it.
5) While you cannot completely delete your Gravatar profile, you can remove all of your profile information through the Edit My Profile page.
You can also make your Gravatar profile private so no one else can view it. From the Edit My Profile page, click the “View Profile” link to see your profile, and then click the “Hide My Profile” link in the sidebar there.
If you have a minute, it would be very helpful to us to hear why you to want to leave so we can try to improve our service in the future.
