delete account

  Dear Sir or Madam,

  I currently have the domain historyakhund.com and would like to delete the account and the entire blog (I have exported my posts). There does not seem o be an option for me to do this online. Might you be able to kindly assist?

  Hello Dr. Bellenoit,

  I’d be happy to help you but would you please confirm a couple things first?

  If you want to keep using your historyakhund.com domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can continue using the domain by connecting it to a site hosted with another provider:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/

  However, if you don’t want this domain at all, I can cancel and remove it from your account for you. When we cancel a domain, it can take up to several weeks to be available for re-purchase (if at all.) We can’t guarantee that you will ever be able to purchase historyakhund.com again once canceled, so please keep this in mind.

  Please confirm if you’d like me to cancel the domain.

  Once the domain is cancelled or moved away you can delete your site following these steps:

  Thank you for confirming. :)

  I’ve cancelled your domain, historyakhund.com . Since deleting a site is permanent and cannot be undone, we make a point to let the owner of the site delete it rather than WordPress.com staff deleting it.

  Since the domain is removed you can now delete the site following these steps:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  WordPress.com user accounts are permanent, and you can find more information about that here:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

  This prevents another user from registering the account name again and pretending to be you.

  But you can leave the account dormant and then unsubscribe from emails sent to you from WordPress.com. To unsubscribe from emails, go to your Notifications settings:

  https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/

  and select “Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com.”
