I created a username-only account by accident. I want a blog.
WordPress will not let me add a blog to my username account.
Wordpress will not let me use my email address to create a separate blog account.
Wordpress will not let me delete my username account to free up my email address.
Wordpress will not let me change my email address to a blackhole to free it up.WordPress is holding my email address ransom! Help please. I want a blog! What am I mising?

Well, for one thing, don’t delete anything before asking for help.
Now, it seems you need help registering a blog. Since you’re logged in, you’ll see the grey Admin bar at the top of the page. Go to My Account->My Blogs and down at the bottom, on the right-hand side, you’ll see Register Another Blog. Click it and go from there.
If that doesn’t work, sign out, go to http://wordpress.com, and click the big orange button on the right.

Thanks for your reply, but this doesn’t help. The big orange button is for signing up, and I cannot sign up without an email address, the email address I have is associated with my username here, so I cannot use it, and I cannot find a way to un-associated it with this account. I cannot even remove this account!
Also, on the grey (upper) nav bar I cannot find “My Blogs” under “My Account”. The closest to it is “Global Dashboard”. Then on that page under “Dashboard” on the left I can click “My Blogs”. In “My Blogs” it tells me “You’re A Member Of All (0) | Visible (0) | Hidden (0)”, and there is no link to “Register Another Blog” anywhere on this page.
Either WordPress really messed up their system design, or their front-end navigation has a very nasty hole in it here..

Wait, I’ve found a solution.
It seems the “register another blog” page is accessible through “Blog Stats” then a text link that says “you don’t appear to have any blogs yet, why not start one”.
Why this isn’t on the “My Blogs” page as a big shiny graphic (or the dashboard, for those who don’t have a blog) I do not know. But anyway, SOLVED.

dconsc is right. With the new design the option to create a blog for username-only users is simply gone. Nothing, nada, zero. I just checked by creating one. The’old’ pages with the link intact are still available in the non-English versions of wordpress.com, but that doesn’t help much. A major glitch in the re-design process. Wouldn’t be the first time…and the link dconsc finally found would be better placed under Edit Profile > Primary blog, which only says ‘N/A’ for non-blog users. That’s where that link should be.

I really need to delete my account….like everyone has said it won’t let you use the same email that is assoc. with your account. I changed the spelling on both my user name and my link, but it didn’t work on the user name when it gave me the option to correct anything. I corrected both areas and it still put the user name misspelled. I thought this would be great to do, but having second thoughts now.
Please let us delete our accounts…if we didn’t want our info out there anymore…that would be even a larger problem. grrrrrrrr
