Delete account or change URL/ wordpress name?

I have a blog that is tied to my work account that I would either like to delete so that I may get another account with a different username , or change my username. Is this possible? I don’t think that it is, just wanted to check.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you want that blog to be associated with another username, you can create a new username with a unique email address and then transfer the blog over under the My Blogs menu. Hope that helps answer your question :)

I would like to change the ‘kommunicator’ from the URL of the Save Open Space Blog to ‘SaveOpenSpaceBlog’ … is this possible without changing the email address attached to the blog?

Well, those aren’t URLs, those are names. You can change those for free under Settings->General. To change URLs, you need the Domain Mapping upgrade.

Hey I have a similar situation: I created a private blog for one of my classes about the World Cup. Since FIFA restricts the use of “world cup” being used in a url, I need to change mine. As of now my link is stephenwatsonworldcup.wordpress.com…Any way I can change it from stephenwatsonwc.wordpress.com without deleting my whole blog? And if that Domain Mapping upgrade is the trick, what does that entail? Thanks (Feel free to contact me directly at (email visible only to moderators and staff))

I am confused. I changed the title of my blog and I want to change the URL to match. I want to keep the old content visible, so I don’t want to just set up a new blog. What do I have to do? Thanks, hertz001

You cannot just arbitrarily change the URL of your blog. You can purchase a domain with the URL that you want and domain mapping http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

Yep. You can purchase a .com, .net, or .org domain name through WordPress.com, or you can connect another type of domain to your blog using the domain mapping upgrade if you purchase it through another registrar and update the name servers.

Please post the complete a clickable URL for the blog in question starting with http://Then note tha what Volunteers and Staff have posted in this thread is correct information for those who have free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM. @timethief you say the information here in this thread is correct. Well it was correct at the time, but shouldn’t you point out that you CAN now change your blog URL and your Username, or just your Username. I have already done so on one of my blogs.

Would you care to show us the URLs? You can MOVE a blog from one website to another, thus apparently changing the URL, but that’s not the same as just changing the URL. In order to literally change the URL of an existing WP.com blog, you need the domain mapping upgrade.

You can change both your WordPress.com account username (the name you use to login) and your display name (the name that is seen on your posts and comments).Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back to what it was. If you want to change the title of the blog (the text displayed in the title bar of a web browser and displayed in the header for most themes) instead, you can do so under General Settings. If you want to get rid of the “wordpress.com” part of your address, then you need to purchase a custom domain for your site. http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

Shoot, am new to wordpress. created my personal account & blog name & URL. Then I created one for my non-profit org, but inadvertently did so within my personal account. (What I wanted was an entirely separate non-profit account with the non-profit blog name & URL.) – However, as I was about to delete it out of my personal account, I read instructions stating: “Do not delete a blog to ‘free the name’. That does not happen.” – I’m a bit confused by the thread above, but does it describe how I can move the non-profit blog name & URL from my personal account to a different non-profit account (i.e. separate login). – Thanks much! – clint
