  I would like to delete an inactive account so that I can use my email address for a very active work account. How do I do this?

  With WordPress.com, blogs can be deleted, but accounts cannot. To free up your email address, log into the inactive WordPress.com account. Go to Account Settings (https://wordpress.com/me/account) and replace the email listed with a throwaway one (Yahoo or Gmail, for example). When you click the Save Account Settings button, there’ll be a message saying that there’s a pending change and to check your inbox for confirmation. Check the inbox of the throwaway address and click the confirmation link in order to confirm the email address change.

  After that’s done, log out and then log into your “active work” WordPress.com account. Go to Account Settings, change your email address, save changes, check your email, and click the confirmation link.
