Delete an old website

    Hello !

    We are an association that manages a student newspaper. Every year the members of the office change.
    A few years ago, the office changed the site for a new one but never deleted the old one. We don’t have the login of this old site, and we don’t know which e-mail address was linked (since the association’s e-mail address is linked to the new site). How can I delete this old site? Several members are asking to have their articles deleted and we can’t comply with their request…

    Hi there!

    If you have the transaction IDs from charges on this account, you can use the Account Recovery form to prove ownership of the site, then WordPress.com support can help you from there. You can find that form here:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

    Just fill out as much information as you have, including an email address where Support can get in touch. The transaction ID will be on your bank statement as WordPress followed by a letter/number code. They’ll look like this:

    WordPress XXXXXXXXXX

    Since there was a transaction in January 2020, you should be able to find that transaction ID if your organization uses a single credit card for payments.
