Delete categories

  I have a sidebar with various categories. I would like to delete one of them but when I go to categories in admin and tick the box there is no delete only Add to Menu. So categories cannot be deleted I guess.

  I have the same question.
  I need to reorganize my categories in the hierarchy and delete the extras.
  How may I delete them?
