Delete Domain

  • Unknown's avatar

I was able to transfer my old domain charliecopley.com to my blog, but now would like to cancel the domain charlienicholas.com WITHOUT deleting or canceling the rest of the premium upgrade. You might however want to go through your entire support blog, because some places to contact you about domain upgrade cancellation, other places say it should be right in the domain upgrades section of the blog dashboard. I can’t find a link on my dashboard. however.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there Charlie! I can help with your domain deletion, however before we move forward, I wanted you to have the following information:

If we cancel your domain (charlienicholas.com), it can take up to several weeks for our domain registrar to release the domain, and we can’t guarantee that your domain will be available to you again once canceled.

If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > My Domains in your dashboard.

For more information on using the domain elsewhere, please see:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/

However, if you don’t want this domain at all, let me know and I’ll assist with the cancellation. Because this cannot be undone, so I wanted you to have all the information before you made your final decision.

Let me know! Thank you :)

I want charlienicholas.com deleted, I have no need for it. I have registered charliecopley.com however from another user account I no longer have access to; I was able to pay the transfer fee to hook it up to my current account but was wondering how could I fully transfer it to my account, so I can update my WHOIS info (I can show proof I am the owner of the domain on file), edit domain servers (not that I need to), or be able to transfer eventually (don’t need to now, but would like eventually self host so I can also use it to house my projects portfolio). Wild West domains said to contact you guys about it; I can forward you those emails if you want for proof.

    Hey again, Charlie!

I’ll cancel charlienicholas.com for you. Not a problem.

I do see charliecopley.com listed as one of the custom domains on your account as well. You should be able to access it in your Dashboard at Store → My Domains in order to transfer it when you’re ready.

    You can also click here:
    https://copley10.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

You will select Edit Domain next to charliecopley.com and then click Transfer Domain. Follow the instructions listed to get the ball rolling.

I hope this helps! Take care.

Just curious as to how long it will take before charlienicholas.com won’t appear on my dashboard anymore? Is that one of those 72-hour ordeals?

I’m locking charliecopley.com for now, because wordpress.com offers me the ability to focus on my blogging. I’ll transfer to self-hosting in the future when I return to school and start building a portfolio of projects, designs, and programs, and my domain will be the face for potential employers, clients, and whoever else needs or wants to, to view my work.

Hey Charlie! Could you refresh Store → My Domains for me and see if charlienicholas.com still appears? It should be gone now. Let me know!

Sounds great about the future transfer. Let us know if we can assist! Just so you are aware, we do have themes that are very professional in nature and offer the ability to display project portfolios. You can have a website here that doesn’t include a blog, if you wish. When the time comes, if you’d like, check out more of our themes:

    Thank you very much! :)

I do have another question now. I had set up off-site dns management with GoDaddy. Tried deleting it, but they said I had to talk to you guys about it in order for it to disappear from my account (because I use GoDaddy to host several other domains in my possession). My account number is 78559630, pin 1974, if that helps you, The error message I recieve is

“We were unable to find the specified zone.”

Not the biggest issue in the world, but the girl Lynn said she couldn’t do anything.

Never mind. now all is cleared up. Thank you, are called HAPPINESS engineers for a reason. ;)

    Charlie,

Thanks for the follow up, and the very kind words. I’m glad that everything is cleared up now. Let us know if we can help in any other way!

All the best to you :)
