Delete domain name

  I registered the domain name http://www.tessalovedotcom.wordpress.com, then later registered tessalove.com. I have the later set as my primary domain, but I notice the sometimes the pages show up as tessalovedotcom.wordpress.com. I would like to delete this domain and just use tessalove.com. How do I do this, and is there a risk of losing content?

  Hi there,

  Your custom domain tessalove.com is the address that your visitors will see when they visit your site.

  The tessalovedotcom.wordpress.com address is an internal address that was created when you registered the domain. To make sure the domain registration goes through and there isn’t a conflict with a pre-existing site, the “dotcom” phrase is appended to the username.

  Only you see that address, and only when you visit your site’s dashboard. We use that address to make sure that nothing ever happens to your site and its contents, even if you stop using your custom domain. However, your site will appear to all of your visitors at tessalove.com.

  If you’d still like to change your WordPress.com address, you can do so by following these instructions: Changing a Blog Address

  Keep in mind that this is purely for your benefit, as the WordPress.com name change will be invisible to the visitors to your site.
