Delete Domain Name Before Registration Expires

    Hello,

    I’ve been trying to get cancel the registration and delete the domain information for http://www.conradloomis.com. I made a site with another host, and it would let me use the domain http://www.conradloomis.com if were unregistered, but is not “transfer friendly.”

    My wordpress site is conradloomis.wordpress.com

    The problem is that if you cancel the domain name there is no guarantee that you can purchase it back. It can take up to 60 days for a name to revert to the wild where it can be purchased again. There is no guarantee that a registrar will release a domain name, they might keep it for their account, auction if off to the highest bidder, or it might be purchased by a squatter and held hostage until you pay a lot of money to get it back.

    During this entire time you will loose the use of your domain name and your web site can’t be reached
