Delete Followers from Private Blog

I have searched for the answer to this, and have not been able to find it in longs threads about the purpose and politics blah blah blah. I’m beginning to feel that it might not be possible.

I have a private blog – that has always been private – and invited users to review the material (which is updated every week). Some of the users haven’t continued on reviewing the material and I’ve removed them, however they’re still getting email updates because I get “attempts to view” notices (like 2 months down the line and would like people to be more consistent). Is there any way of removing them as followers so they don’t get the update notices?

This seems like a needed function for private blogs. If at some point in time they are “reinvited” they would be able to “refollow,” but in private blogs I feel that the Users and Following should be tied together. To delete a user and then have them still get updates seems kinda … silly.

Is there any plug in to manage the subscription list as a work around?

Thank you for your time. Aloha.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When your site is set to private, anyone that is not on your list at settings > privacy, even if they are on the followers list from a time before the site was set to private, will not get any notifications of new content. If you are seeing attempts to view your site, they are coming from people either clicking a link in an old email they received, or they are attempting to go directly to the site via the URL (address).

No one that is not on your list at settings > privacy will get, nor can they get, email notifications.
