delete inactive jetpack site

Hi, I need help removing an obsoletel jetpack site (trident.gallery) from my wordpress.com account. The instructions at https://jetpack.com/support/disconnect-jetpack-sites/ do not apply. First section, because there is no menu option ‘Manage your connection’ under settings; clicking the site goes to the WP-admin-dashboard-like settings rather than the Jetpack-type settings which has the ‘manage your connection’ option. Second section doesn’t apply, because I can’t log into the site. Third section doesn’t apply because I don’t get the warning ‘this site cannot be accessed.’ So I’m going to need help deleting it, either inside help or a workaround.

I though the problem could derive from the fact that trident.gallery DNS is directed at my primary wordpress.com site (matthewswiftgallery.com) which is active and working fine. But I changed the redirect and waited till the DNS change propagated, logged in/out of wordpress.com and there is no change in behavior.

I should have started with the fact that trying to delete the site from wordpress.com gives the error “user cannot delete jetpack site via API”

“Duplicate reply detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!”

Yes I did, but “topic has 0 replies” even after login/logout or using incognito browser window, so the reply seems stuck, recognized but not actually published. Forum sites ought to be more responsive.

The reply was: I should have started with the fact that trying to delete the site from wordpress.com gives the error “User cannot delete jetpack site via API.”

  • Howdy @matthewswiftgallery I have removed that site from your site list so you should no longer see it.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi, thank you for your replies. Unfortunately as of datestamp of this post, the trident.gallery site is still listed on my account as before, and attempts to delete give the same error about deleting with the API. I logged in/out of wordpress.com, I logged in with Chrome incognito window, I tried Firefox (all Windows 10 x64), same results each time. Please let me know what else I can try or information I can provide.

  • Hi there,

I was able to successfully disconnect trident.gallery from your account. Please check again and let us know if you still see the site.

    Thanks,
