Delete "Leave a Reply" Box from homepage

Hello: I am using WordPress.com to build a website, not a blog. I’d really like to remove the “Leave a Reply” box on the homepage. Any idea how to do so? I went to the Discussion Settings feature, which allows me to edit the restrictions on replies, but it does not tell me how to eliminate the reply option all together.
Any help/guidance is MUCH appreciated!

Check out the Discussion Settings info for some clarity. You can eliminate the reply option by unchecking ‘Allow people to post comments on new articles’ but I think it only applies to new articles. You can go back and manually remove commenting from existing posts.

I read through the Discussion Settings information, and while it provides a lot of valuable management instructions (monitoring posts, moderator notifications, etc), it doesn’t provide the option of removing the reply box as a whole. I would ideally like to have it so that no one would be able to even see the leave a reply feature. Do you think there is a way to do this with WordPress.com? I found a work-around for WordPress.org, but you have to go into the coding in order to make the change. I know WordPress.com has fewer customization options, but it really seems like there should be a way to get ride of the comment box entirely.

Just edit the pages by selecting the options in the discussion module: remove the checkmarks beside:
Allow comments.
Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.If you don’t see the discussion module, then on the top right of your screen there is a link called “screen options” which will let you display the discussion module (and other modules you may not be using).

Have you tried the method we mentioned with old and new posts? There are two things at play here:
–The reply box should be removed on future posts if you uncheck the ‘allow’ options we mentioned.
–The reply box will be removed on existing posts if you uncheck the ‘allow’ options on individual posts. (annoying, I know.)

I’m very new at this. Where do I find the “allow” options on the individual post I’m using as a front page?
