Delete mapped domain to self host

Hi, I am trying to delete my mapped domain so that I can self host my site. I am unable to do that from my control panel and need help to do so!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Can someone please help? I am trying to transition over to using my own hosting with wordpress and have a site ready to deploy. My nameservers are pointing towards my new host, but keep getting redirected to qepcexample.wordpress.com

I can get to my domain qepc.ca for a moment before it redirects me to qepcexample.wordpress.com.

  • The issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner of that upgrade.

Typically this happens because you ended up with a second WordPress.com user account at some point and THAT account is the one that was used to purchase the upgrade. You will need to log into that second account in order to cancel the upgrade.

  • I am seeing qepc.ca point correctly to your self-hosted site.

It can take 24-48 hours for domain/DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. It typically happens faster than that, but it really depends on your ISPs update frequency. If you are still not seeing the correct site appear after 48 hours has elapsed, you might try contacting your domain registrar.

Also, do let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

  • Also, your browser may be looking at a cached version of the page. You can try either clearing your cache, using a different browser, or loading the page and then holding the shift key while you click reload/refresh.
