Delete my account

    Hello,

    I have been trying to delete my account for the past week of so, but I’m encountering issues. I need to cancel my active subscriptions, but I cannot do it from the purchases tab like the manual says.

    Can you please assist?

    I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

    Hi there,
    It looks like you may have deleted your site before removing the upgrades, which makes it difficult for you to cancel them after the fact.

    I have removed all upgrades on our end an you will be able to proceed. You can follow the steps here to permanently close your account, which will remove your personal data from our service: https://wordpress.com/me/account/close

    Hello,

    Thank you for your assistance.

    However, I’m still getting the same error message:
    “This user account cannot be closed while it has active subscriptions.”

    Can you please assist in deletion of my account, even if you can close it from your end, that would be very helpful.

    Hi there,

    I can confirm that there are no upgrades under your account on this end. Usually when an issue like this occurs, it can be traced to an expired (or broken) login auth cookie stored on your local web browser. It looks like you are using Google Chrome as your browser, so with this in mind I would like you to try the following

    – clear your cache and cookies based on the steps google recommends here: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050
    – Also make sure you are not blocking any “3rd party cookies” as explained in that guide as well.
    – If you continue to have issues after completing those steps, I would like you to try another browser instead, like Firefox. Are you able to proceed if you use a browser other than Chrome?

    Thank you for your response.

    I have tried clearing cache and using edge instead of chrome and I’m getting the same message.

    “Your account is being deleted” with a pop up error “This user account cannot be closed while it has active subscriptions.”

    Hello there,

    That’s very odd – we can’t see any hindrances with being able to close this account.

    Is there another account you’re looking to close? Also, is there a website connected to this account?

    There was an old site, but I deleted it.

    No other account I’m looking to close, just this one.

    If you can help me to just close off this account, that would be great.

    Hi there,

    You have an Akismet subscription that is still active which is preventing you from closing your account. Please let me know if you want me to close that subscription for you.

    That Akismet subscription can only used within the account correct? If yes, please delete it.
