Delete My Gravatar Account Not Hide It
-
So I signed up for Gravatar. It now has my email address attached and is putting my image that I uploaded around other websites automatically without me choosing which really irritates me. Or rather pisses me off. It says I can’t delete email address. There is no delete account option. You guys should really do something about this. There should be a way to actually FULLY delete the account. Not hide the account that is suggested. This is really bull. Is this a way to make up bull user numbers? A way to force your way to take and keep people’s info? I really don’t like the fact that something has access to everything linked to my email automatically. I shouldn’t have to check not to use it anymore or get rid of images or w/e method people suggest to mask the matter at hand. Practically phishing here. Being able to link to everything like that. For all I know you guys are or have fed info to the NSA in 1 way or another or who knows who and I want my privacy.
Allow people to delete this ridiculous nonsense.

Hello!
WordPress and Gravatar are linked together.
http://blog.gravatar.com/2013/04/03/gravatar-and-wordpress-com-together-forever/Because you cannot delete your WordPress Account (you can delete the blog) you also cannot delete your gravatar account. WordPress does this for security reasons that way nobody can access your account and attempt to be you.
If you are seeking to remove just gravatar
There are some options to gravatar:
1. You can try making it private and change your image.
http://en.gravatar.com/support/profile-privacy/
To change image: Dashboard–>Users–>ProfileYou can check your gravatar here: http://en.gravatar.com/site/check/
See also: http://en.gravatar.com/emails/2. You can just create a through away email address for WordPress and a throwaway password and “lock-up” the WordPress account.

Hi there,
sorry for the trouble, but as @pcosta88 already indicated, it is to prevent impersonation, which may lead to greater inconvenience than simply hiding a gravatar.
Before user hits Sign up button, there’s a visible text left to it:

I agree with the original post and wish I could delete my account. I signed up when Gravatar was new, I wanted to see a cartoon version of myself. Instead, years later, I have this account attaching itself to other accounts. I don’t have a wordpress blog, I have no use for gravatar.

Furthermore, I have no been able to change my profile. I make changes, click save, log out, log in and there’s my old profile, still unchanged.

If you are unable to make changes it could be a caching or browser issue. Can you confirm if you change browsers or clear cache that you are able to log in to your account and make lasting changes?
