Delete my wordpress account
-
Hi There I am trying to stop my account from automatically renewing itself again next year. I do not want my credit card details to be stored on my account. I no longer wish to have a wordpress account or blog or domain name. I have made my blog private and understand I still have around 10 months use of my domain name so am happy for it to run its course with my blog privated. I want to have my whole wordpress account deactivated if possible. Can you please ensure my credit card is not charged again in 1 years time and if possible delete my account.
Thanks
Katarina TuaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Katarina,
After looking into your account, I found that the auto-renewal has been disabled and you will not be charged in the future. Since you want your domain to run its course it is best to keep your blog private.
Once that domain has run its course you can completely delete the blog through this guide. Please note that it cannot be done if the domain is still attached to the blog.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Hi Grace, thanks for your advise.
I would prefer to have my domain cancelled now too. I only said that I would let it run its course due to not being able to delete my blog because it is still attached. Is there a way to detach it from my blog and then delete it so that I don’t have to worry about doing it in 10months time when it does expire?
Thanks, -
Hi Katarina,
Sure. I can take care of this for you. Before I do though, please note that canceling a domain at this time means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation.
You are welcome to keep your domain with us and update the nameservers to point to another hosting provider by following this guide:
You may also transfer your domain to another registrar by following this guide:
If you would like to completely cancel your ownership of the domain name, please reply to confirm. Then I can help you delete the site.

Hi Grace,
Thank you that would be very much appreciated if you could please delete my domain ownership and also delete the site.
Thanks for your prompt reply and service. -
Hi there,
I have deleted your domain as requested. You can permanently delete your site by following the guide below:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/
Please read the warnings and advice before deleting a site, as we can’t revert a site deletion for any reason.
If you want to hide your site instead, you can use the following guide to make your site private so only you and other members of the site can view it when logged in:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Here’s a few suggestions for you if you’d like to scrub the account:
1) If you are trying to unsubscribe from emails sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block emails”:
http://wordpress.com/#!/read/subsettings/
2) You can also go here to remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This will only leave the username behind:
http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/
3) To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

Please let me know if you have any questions!
