i understand that as a free user the functionality of the site would be restricted. Its NOT restricted, its utterly gutted to the point of being pretty much unusable as a free user. There is no ‘post’ button when editing or creating posts. the control panel functionality is almost non existent. I cannot upload a custom theme unless I pay… I could go on and on.
I appreciate good software and when i use it I pay for it. If i cant pay for it I wont use it.
I also appreciate that any site I create is going to take storage space and bandwidth from your servers so it stands to reason that you should encourage me to upgrade to a paid site when I can afford to do so.
You didnt encourage me to upgrade, you discouraged me from using the free account. You also discouraged me from ever upgrading to a paid account simply because of the CRIPPLEWARE status of the free account. I get uppity about things like this, I dont support crippleware, I dont support adware, I dont support nagware and I dont support ‘whore-ware’ (when i install gizmo X it installs gizmo Y behind my back).
wordpress is an awesome CMS. I tried drupal and after 3 hours of fighting I got absolutely nowhere with it and I never botherd to look at it again. i tried other CMS’s and found them to be about the same.
I installed apache/php/mysql and within a few minutes I was up and running editing page content. I find wordpress to be very intuitive! and after a week or two I now have a very basic custom theme that I built from the ground up – no way I would have been able to accomplish this much in such a short time with any other CMS.
However. As stated above… I do not support crippleware. Please delete this account.
No I do not want it left in an inactive state with a randomized password, i want it DELETED.
And now, because You dont give me a way to contact you other through a public forum im the bad guy!

Staff cannot and will not delete/deactivate your account for you. However, you can act on what follows.

Here’s how to deactivate your account:
Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

    1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile at https://wordpress.com/me/account and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

    Free disposable email address https://www.google.ca/search?q=free+disposable+email+address&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=Jf0mWaWKPMOD0wLgg6bYBQ

    2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
    https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/

    3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
    http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html

    4. To hide your Gravatar profile, login and on the bottom right hand corner of your Gravatar profile page you will find a “hide” button visible only to you that you can click. http://en.gravatar.com/support/profile-privacy

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting sites and/or site content or making the site private does not remove indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results) and we cannot help with that. Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):
