Delete Profile

  I am trying to delete my profile. I thought that deleting my site would do that but it did not. How do I move forward?

  Hello,

  Below are the steps necessary to remove your account.

  Please keep in mind that once you choose to deactivate your account, you’ll NEVER be able to re-use its WordPress.com address again. There are several options you can choose from rather than choosing to delete the site permanently. This is something that you yourself will need to do.

  * Change your site’s address and keep your content
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

  * Delete old posts and continue using the same address
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/#deleting-posts

  * Empty your site of all its content for a fresh start and continue using the same address
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/

  * Transfer your site to someone else
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

  * Make your site private so only people you invite can see it
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  If you do NOT wish to choose one of the options above and are certain that you wish to delete your site permanently, you can follow this link https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  To remove your Gravatar: https://en.gravatar.com/support/profile-privacy/

  Again, please make certain you will never want to reuse the address, as it will no longer be available for you or anyone else to use after deleted/deactivated.

  Apparently, you cannot actually close an account per the staff response I received from my own thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/delete-account-1066?replies=2#post-2693834

  The instructions I was referring to in my post can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

  It essentially boils down to delete everything you can and then change the password to a long random string so that (probably) no will be able to log into the account again. Kind of ridiculous.

  Yes, the information you’ve received is correct. That’s the only option currently available.
