How to delete ‘recent comments’
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
Here is some information on managing comments. Can you send a link to where you are seeing the ones that you wish to delete? Are they on your site or another one? Thanks.

Thank you, Liz.
The link is the home page of my site: brightfuturesmag.wordpress.com, on the left side of the page.
It says “Recent Comments” and refers to an earlier comment I stuck to my own blog page when the title of the site was “Solarpunks”. Now the blog page is also gone as I deleted it when I put the stories on a “Short Stories” site page. If you click the icon, it is empty, so it is just garbage and I am trying to clean up the site as we move beyond construction phase.
But in all the comments pages and documentation I see no Trash button for Recent Comments.

Wow! It disappeared by itself! Thank you, Liz, for whatever magic . . .
Yet I would like to know how to handle this in future, and not rely on magic, so any information you can give will be most appreciated.

You’re referring to the Recent Comments widget:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/recent-comments-widget/
It’s not possible to add or remove comments to that widget directly – it automatically pulls in comments as they are left on your site, and according to the criteria you specify in the widget settings.
The only way to remove a comment from the widget, is if a newer comment pushes it down, or if you delete the comment from My Site ->Comments. Also note that if you delete the comment it won’t disappear from the widget immediately – widget content gets cached on your site, so the widget will only updates when your site’s cache refreshes. That should happen every hour.
