Delete – SECURITY

    I can not see why you cannot delete my account?
    This is insecure and bad that such a big website can’t do this.

    I want to ensure my security of user details is kept high and that I do not get spammed
    I want my account deleted IMMEDIATELY – With no excuse.

    I also see this “Accounts cannot be deleted” on other sites but when I contacted support they did it no problem. I hope it’s the same?

    Hi there. You cannot delete your wordpress.com username account. This is for security reasons so others cannot claim your username and impersonate you. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

    There is nothing insecure about it. The only details you were required to provide when signing up for your account was an email address. WordPress.com will never send you spam to that email address and also won’t sell it to third parties, as clearly stated in their privacy policy.

    If you change that email to a throwaway address there will be no way your account could ever be linked to you. Any other details that you added yourself, you also have the power to delete yourself.
