Delete self-hosted site from ‘My Sites’ section

    Hi

When I view ‘My Sites’ on my desktop, it says I have 6 sites but only lists 5. On the mobile app, it shows a 6th site which is one that I deleted a long time ago. I don’t even own the domain any more.

How do I delete that site from this list? Why do WordPress make it so damn difficult? Why isn’t there just a ‘Delete’ button on each site property?

I can apparently delete my whole account which will take out all of my sites quite easily. But delete just 1 site? No, that I don’t seem to be allowed to do.

Whoever decided not to put a simple delete button on these sites really should not be allowed anywhere near product design or UI design.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi there, currently there is not a way for a user to disconnect a Jetpack site from within the WordPress.com admin, only from within the Jetpack dashboard on the site itself.

I am more than happy to disconnect the site for you. Can you give me the URL of that site so that we can make sure we disconnect the right one?

That is such a bizarre decision that someone has made there. Is there a ticket or a voting system to have such a button added? It should be there by default!

In the meantime though, thanks for being willing to remove it for me. Without pasting the domain on a public forum, its initials would be “F, L”.

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

You should actually be able to do this yourself, as explained here:

However, I’ve gone ahead and removed that site for you.

My menu looks different to what is shown in the screenshot and there doesn’t seem to be any such option to manage my connection.

Is it a feature that was removed? I do seem to remember being able to remove sites in the past because I did used to have more than this.

    Thanks for disconnecting it anyway!

Aha! I found it. So the menus are different but on the bottom of the General tab there is indeed a link to manage connections, and if you open that then you can disconnect it.

    Thanks
