delete site without an administrator
-
Hello,
I’m working for a primary school in Brussels. We have an old WordPress.com site (https://marronniers.wordpress.com/) that have been created by a kind parent a few years ago.
We would like to delete this site but actually, there is no known administrator. Indeed, the creator of this site is persuaded that he have transferred the administrator’s right to the account I’m using… wich is not the case (I have absolutely no right on the site).
Can you help us by deleting the website (if needed, I have all proof that I’m actually working for the school concerned) or, at least, tell us who is the actual administrator of our website ?
Best Regards

For all WordPress blogs, I believe the administrator needs to be the one to delete the blog. If you have contact with that parent, you can ask them to follow these steps to delete the blog.
If they don’t have access to the account anymore, you can guide them through an account recovery, and they can delete the blog after the account is recovered.
Hope this helps!

Hello scifiknux,
Thanks for your quick answer. The problem is that no one have used this website since 2013, so no one knows a thing about the how and the who.
We asked the parent but he doesn’t remember the e-mail adress he used. Indeed, he had not used his personnal adress but a dedicated one.
We’ve asked the french forum of WordPress.com but the moderator (airodyssey) suggested that only an employee of WordPress could help us.
Best Regards

Ah I see. I’ll go ahead and tag “modlook” on this topic so a staff member takes a look. Best of luck to you!

Hi there,
Only an admin on a WordPress.com site can delete it. We cannot delete a site at a non-admin’s request under any circumstances.
If the owner of the site no longer has access to the correct email address and you can’t provide any of the other verification info required by the account recovery form, we won’t be able to give you access to the site.

Hi kokkieh,
Thanks for your quick answer.
I understand this protection measure but… I’m sad that the only way is to let this website give us prejudice. We are a primary school and only want to delete a website that has not been touched since 2013.
Insn’t there a way ? If we ask our authorities ? If we prove that every information are effectively concerning our school ?

I have sent an email to the address we have on file for that site. If the parent who created the site still has access to the correct email, they should receive our email there, and then we can help them reset the password. Please ask them to check all their email accounts, and to also check the spam folder for an email from us.
