Is it possible to delete the smiley in the footers of the webbased hosted blogs? It look silly!

thr is, it’s in my blog too. apparently it’s supposed to track your blog stats or stg… it’s in another thread here somewhere… what’s so silly about it? it’s just one tiny itty bitty smile – ppl won’t go through such lengths to pore over your blog and notice stg so miniscule

I still can’t find one even though drmike sent me a picture of the one on my blog and told me exactly where to look for it. IMO sulz is right – don’t sweat the small stuff – blog on.

    <humour>What’s the matter? Don’t you like smilies?</humour>

I don’t think it can be deleted with the setup we have here.

Think of it as a surpise for your visitors.

(lol)I’m experiencing surprises I have previously overlooked today (lol) so I promise to be “surprised” if my readers can find what I can’t (the cute little thingee)and comment on it. P.S. I still think a tiny animated eyeball would be more appropriate.

this ‘smiley’ is a typical beacon spying on blog visitors.

I suppose that some software you have installed (personal firewall, antivirus) is smart enough to cut it off. that’s why you can’t see it and it’s a good sign.

Well, it is a javascript doing the tracking. She may have that turned off. (I didn’t think of that. Learn something every day around here.) :)

I’ll bet you’re right options. My security is actually working very well and how very cool that is. I spent ages unistalling, scanning and re-installing Norton internet security last weekend.
drmike is right too because once I found out the scary purposes evil dooers could use javascript for, I made double sure that mine was turned off.*
Also in accord with a blog posting options made on his site I have adjusted my user accounts and am no longer vulnerable by being the administrator and only user of this computer on a windows xp professional operating system. I now have two accounts and only use the one I need for what I need to do.
Lastly I uninstalled firefox with the multiple extensions most of which I didn’t use and I re-installed firefox selecting only what I need.
Learning some new things every day has become a pattern over the course of these last 6 weeks. It’s too bad the lessons don’t come one at a time but I’m coping.
*Now what I really need is a list of scenarios when a newbie might be required to turn javascripting on. Any takers for that project gentlemen?
