Delete tag

I have delete some tags in Post, how come I still can see the tag name in my drop down list?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Removing tags from a post editor doesn’t delete them. Instructions on how to delete post tags may be found in the Adding and managing Tags via WP Admin section of the Tags support page.

In order to remove a tag from the tags module in a post editor, you must not only click on the “x” beside the tag, but also update the page to save the change.
Alternatively, if you delete the tag at your wp-admin tags page, https://wishcotrue.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=post_tag, then it will also disappear from any post that it might have been assigned to.

Hi
I have done: wp admin-post- tags- (clear the tags’ name)
but when I come here:
Blog posts- (choose post) -Categories & Tags- Tags (all the tags’ name are still there.
It looks like that you can’t delete all the tags’ name.
-
all the tags’ name are still there
That definitely shouldn’t be the case for tags that you’ve deleted, although there might be a brief delay due to caching. I’ll tag the topic for staff attention. Staff will respond here.

Hi there,
Can you please give me an example of a tag that you’ve deleted so I can check?
-
Hi kokkieh
They are a lot: a, s, D, E, j, p, y, coffee etc.
I delete in
wp admin-post- tags- (clear the tags’ name)but they are still in
Blog posts- (choose post) -Categories & Tags- Tags (all the tags’ name are drop-down list)I think it should be the way to clear them. I hope you can help me with this, I am learning how to create a website. Thanks.

Hi wishcotrue,
but they are still in Blog posts- (choose post) -Categories & Tags- Tags (all the tags’ name are drop-down list)
I’ve checked wishcotrue.wordpress.com and currrr is currently the only tag — in both the WP Admin dashboard and the tag dropdown in the new interface.
Could you try clearing your browser cache? If you are still the deleted tags afterwards, please make a screenshot and upload it to your Media Library so I can take a closer look.
Thanks!

Hi Gemmacevans
I have 3 website for the same name, actually I don’t know what people can see at the same name of wishcotrue. please look at the dog side, I have put the screenshot in Media Library. I want to clear browser cache, but I can not find “WP super cache, performance in the setting. Please look at the screenshot as well. Thanks.

please look at the dog side
I’m not sure what you’re speaking of here. Can you please clarify? Do you mean https://poem811471381.wordpress.com?
I don’t see any of the tags from the screen shots from that site if I try to edit a post there. The only tag that’s being suggested to me is the tag
Dog, and that’s also the only tag I see in your settings at https://wordpress.com/settings/taxonomies/post_tag/poem811471381.wordpress.combut I can not find “WP super cache, performance in the setting
You cannot manually clear the site cache on a WordPress.com site, and that setting does not exist on WordPress.com. Gemma suggested you clear your browser cache. This is done from within Chrome’s settings, not from your site. Also clear saved form history – it’s possible your browser is auto-filling the tags, rather than the editor.

Hi
Yes, I mean https://poem811471381.wordpress.com.
I just add another screenshot to Media library. When I click the Tags, all the names in the drop down list appear. Please look at it.

Hi –
I’ve reviewed the screen shot and can see the drop down list of previously used tags. These are suggestions that you’ve used before and the feature is designed to help you efficiently tag the posts.
The best thing to do is to clear your browser cache. If that doesn’t work, try using your account in a different browser. Let me know if those suggested tags appear in a different browser.

Hi lizkarkoski
I tried to clear browser cache, it did not work, but I used in different browser or log out and log it again, it worked!
Thanks all the staff to help me with this.
-
Hi musicdo1
Thanks for your helping with this deleting Tags. I got the solution now, as I need to log out and log in again or using different browser.
-
@wishcotrue clearing the browser cache should help, then, oddly. You might have only deleted recent cache, perhaps?
Let us know if you still would like help with this or whether you’re okay just using another browser. Normally we just use that test as a troubleshooting step.
-
You might actually try clearing your browser’s local storage, too, which is different from the cache.

Hi Supernovia
I know what happen now. Even you delete you tags via WP Admin-post-Tags-(name)-delete. But the names still remain in Blog post- categories & Tags -Tags.
You have to sign out and sign in again, the Tags’ names in Blog post will be disappear.
Thanks all staff and the member in Forum help me with this query.
