delete the .com site

  I deleted all posts, media and pages.
  I followed this link: https://wordpress.com/settings/general/primarilylearning1.wordpress.com
  to delete the .com site.
  BUT… this messages comes up…
  Premium Upgrades
  You have active premium upgrades on your site. Please cancel your upgrades prior to deleting your site.

  I tried changing the site to free theme rather than Tortuga …. I do not see another way to manage that purchase. How do I permanently delete this site? Thank you, Laurie

  Glad to help. If you have a premium account, you will need to remove that first in order to be able to delete the site. For a great overview of what is needed, and steps to complete the deletion, check this support page:

  Hi Laurie,

  To delete the site, yes you must First cancel any upgrades you have on it.

  You do this by going to the Manage Purchases link on your account > https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/
  Walkthrough > https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/

  Then you go to the blog itself and click Delete Site Permanently
  Walkthrough > https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  Thank you for your support… I thought I was going to live chat :-)
  I have deleted tags, categories, posts and pages… and info …. BUT I paid for a theme. I changed the .com site to use a free theme… I’ve changed ti to private… I still cannot delete it … and do not see a way to manage the Tortuga purchase b/c it was a one time payment.
  (wondered how to delete my comment due to info link????)

  Only Staff can delete or transfer premium themes so you can delete the site. Do you want Staff to transfer the premium theme to another WordPress.COM hosted site you registered under this username account or not? Please answer so your time is not wasted.

  I’ve removed the Tortuga theme from your site so should be able to delete it now. Please let me know if you have any problems though.
