Looks like you already deleted http://www.thetrenitydiary.wordpress.com/, i may disappoint you with this… but once you delete a site, it’s address is reserved and cannot be registered again by anyone(not even by the original owner). This is done to keep your blog from being impersonated by someone else.That’s the reason why there are multiple warnings given while deleting, so that you can think twice before performing the action.

I would suggest you now to register a new sub-domain address as the old one cannot be registered.
re:Deleting accounts
WordPress.COM accounts cannot be deleted permanently once created.But if you still wish to deactivate your account and leave WordPress, you can follow the instructions given here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Even if you deactivate your account your username is not removed from the database, so that it’s not available to any other users when they are registering for a new account. This is done to keep you from being impersonated by anyone else.Thanks! 🙂
