Delete Theme or Delete Website, but Retain the Same Website Name
-
Hi WordPress Team,
I wish to recreate my entire website. When I started with the free website, I unknowingly deleted a few categories etc, due to which my site does not look the way I want it to. I tried changing the theme several times, but unfortunately it gives me a distorted and unsatisfactory look. I even thought of deleting the website, but I am afraid I might not get this domain name again.
What I want to do is to CHANGE THE THEME and RESTART on my website/blog again, however I wish to RETAIN THE WEBSITE NAME and do not wish to lose it at any cost.
Please could someone help me with this at the earliest or suggest an alternative.
Thanks,

Hi there,
To change theme go to My Sites and scroll down to Themes, where you can select a new one.
If you also want to delete your existing content and start afresh, follow the instructions here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/
Hope it helps.

Hi.. Thanks for the response. However, I am actually facing a problem with reconfiguring my website. I deleted a few things originally and I am unable to restore the original website settings.
If I delete the site, will I get back my original website name? What should I do?

You must be logged in under the username account that registered the site first. Then to empty the site and keep the URL you have two options:
(1) Doing this quickly and easily yourself http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/
(2) Waiting in a queue and having Staff do it for you.If you have a lot of content Staff can empty the whole blog for you. That will remove all data including posts, pages, tags, categories, comments, and uploaded files and once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.
If you need your theme to be reset Staff can do that for you too.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blogs and/or blog content does not remove indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):

(1) confirm the URL of the blog(s) you want them to empty;
(2) confirm that you know content deletion is irreversible.
