delete unused blogs!
-
Hi there,
since the domains are unique, it would be a shame to let them go wasted…
Therefore I suggest that all blogs that got created but have never been used for say two years or something get deleted automatically.
e.g.: http://trondheim.wordpress.com/
Thank you for the attention. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The WordPress guys have considered it, but make no promises it will happen.
I found this support article interesting:

They might have kept it unused for many reasons. I don’t use two other blogs of mine but wanted to secure the names since it’s the names I use online. I don’t use my facebook either but got it to secure the name. Or someone might have thought what a great name. Then change their mind and get another name.
Yes they should put up something saying where to contact them if someone wants the name if they don’t want it.
Twitter’s new rules say an inactive account will be deleted after six months. I don’t know if they’ll recycle the names but it’s such a bad idea. Maybe the person died and their families still want the page up. I can’t see an inactive account taking up that much space.

But others may want the name. Also, I agree with you, they shouldn’t just delete it. The owners should get an email and have let’s say a week to re-activate it.

Twitter deleted my account due to inactivity that I set up to go with my main blog, and I’ve tried and tried to get it back and typical for them I never get any reply. They claim I can have it reactivated, but if you can’t get a reply from them, what ya gonna do?

Well it is my name. Well not my real name but my online name that I plan on making a living from and the industry I blog about has known me as for two years. If I didn’t, some disturbing stuff would be linked to “my name”. :(
So your Twitter account was deleted not six months after they started the new rule but six months after you stopped logging in? That blows. Maybe treat every account we have and log in every month or so for no apparant reason other than to make it active. I wonder if active means actually updating our Twitter or just logging in. It can’t be that much space taken up when it’s all text. Text doesn’t take up that much space. Yeah there’s the one image as our background that’s uploaded on their servers. But no one told them do do that.

Another problem with WordPress: if you had a blog that got deleted, other people might have your blog still bookmarked or something. But then someone registers the blog, and pretends to be you. If someone finds that blog again, and thinks it’s you, then..
