  WordPress.COM accounts are not deleted permanently.

  If you want to deactivate your account and leave WordPress, you can follow the support page instructions given here:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

  Your username is not removed from the database, so that it’s not available to users registering for a new account. This is done to ensure that no one impersonates you.
