Deleted account problems
-
In my inexperience, I accidentally deleted my webpage instead of deleting content. Super sad. However, when I type in the URL, the page still exists with the original content on it. So I have two questions: 1) Can I regain control over the page? 2) If not, how do I completely delete it from the internet so that no one is reading a half finished webpage (it was never supposed to go live to begin with!!!)? Thanks in advance!!!

If this helps, here is the page: http://www.starvedforsilence.wordpress.com
As you can see, it is unfinished. I am planning on restarting with a purchased domain and don’t want an unfinished version of the same thing floating around.

https://walkslowlyandbowoften.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blogs and/or indexed content does not remove it from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):

1) Can I regain control over the page?
No. Too bad you ignored the warnings. You cannot register any deleted blog URL. Deleting any .wordpress.com blog URL is not easily done and what you ask to do is not possible. One has to ignore at least three warnings stating that deletion is permanent and irreversible and then click a verification link in an email to delete a blog. That’s because deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and the only exceptions are made are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

Thank you for responding. The real issue here is that, even though the site has been “deleted,” it is still live and active, but I do not have control over it. That is the real problem here. I don’t really care that it has been deleted, I care that the site and content are still out there live and I can’t do anything about it. If I deleted it, shouldn’t it have disappeared or am I misunderstanding?

When was the last time your cleared your browser cache and cookies? Most of us set up our browsers to automatically clear them every time we leave the internet.
This site at https://walkslowlyandbowoften.wordpress.com/ is not alive and active. It has been deleted and this message cannot be removed:
https://walkslowlyandbowoften.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.
Also, read this again please:

My apologies, when I was responding my link did not work. The site that I am talking about is https://starvedforsilence.wordpress.com/ which is still active. I think something messed up when it was being deleted as I do not have an email with a link to finalize the deletion of the site.

Oh! It is a completely different URL for a site with no content. Why delete it? It looks like all you need is help to get started blogging there.
Every theme has a detailed theme description page with set up instructions like this one https://wordpress.com/themes/hemingway-rewritten/and a live demo site like this one https://hemingwayrewrittendemo.wordpress.com/
re: the front page error message found on every new .wordpress.com blog
There is nothing wrong with your blog.
By default, the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post, not a page, the error message will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
For creating a post in the New editor see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/#publish-a-new-post

A blog is a website. The difference between blog and website is simply structure and semantics.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one-way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

However, if you want to delete the site, then we cannot do this for you.
To delete a WordPress.COM hosted blog you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to navigate to Dashboard > Tools > Delete Site. The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made except for the one stated here http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
Alternatively, to change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings
I think something messed up when it was being deleted as I do not have an email with a link to finalize the deletion of the site.

Thanks! I am hoping to get a Moderator to look at this thread, because now I am confused. I’m pretty sure I took the steps to delete it (yet I never received an email). If it is not deleted, and it is possible to gain access again, I want that access again. If not, I would like the page permanently deleted. Does that make sense? Please let me know if I need to explain further.

Thanks so much for all your help! I’m hoping someone from the staff can help sort this out as it might be out of my hands.

If you want to blog at https://starvedforsilence.wordpress.com/ and you can access that site https://starvedforsilence.wordpress.com/wp-admin because you have not clicked the link to delete it that is sent to you in an email, then you can start blogging now as I described here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/deleted-account-problems-1?replies=12#post-2559555

Hello!
The site starvedforsilence.wordpress.com has not been deleted.
However, this site is not associated with your account peaceandquietude.
Do you have a second WordPress.com username?
-
This is a little embarrassing but yes! I did find a second username buried in an old email. This whole time I thought that I had used the same account. Thank you for taking a look any ways! I am so relieved that it is still there! I appreciate your time!
-
And now I am realizing that I accidentally posted on the other account (above). But all is resolved! Thanks again!
