Deleted Account Query

  When I signed up for my account the option to create it without having a blog wasn’t available – I want the account mainly for commenting on other blogs. I’ve just deleted my blog, although the account itself seems to be active I don’t have any way of managing my profile, just getting the message that my account has been deleted.

  Is this right, or is there some way of sorting this out?

  That should be right but I think you should be able to modify your information as well as get the Akismet API key. (Which is the reason why they did it that way)

  What do you see when you login at WP.com?

  Thanks – I see the front page, with “Welcome back pasquires. your blogs -” with none listed.

  If I click on the “my account” link on the top right it links to pasquires.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php which just has the message – “This user has elected to delete their account and the content is no longer available. Visit WordPress.com to get a blog of your own.”

  It’s not a huge problem right now, but obviously should I change my email address or blog then I won’t be able to edit my account. I could potentially just delete my account, then recreate it – how long would it take for the username to be recycled?

  An account here or not still means you can comment anywhere here.

  Blog names are not recycled – if it’s gone it’s gone.

  If you joined for an Akismet key then you don’t need to worry about altering details, the key will still work.

  I’m curious as I’m sure this will come up sooner or later. What about things like changing passwords and your URL?

  drmike – that’s my concern – I have an account, which does what I want it to, but I can never change my password, or my URL, email address &c.

  I also have no idea what my API key is, since I can’t get to it any more…

  To clarify – I don’t care about the blog name, however I DO care about my account name.
