Deleted Account Recovery

    Hi everyone,

I had an account previously (https://wordpress.com/home/larsmarketing.home.blog) but did not like the URL address so I purchased another URL (larserikcasperferm.com). However, I could not get these two sites to talk to each other so I thought I’d delete them both and start over (bad idea looking back!).

Unfortunately, I can’t seem to access the newly purchased URL. It is ONLY this new URL that I want and was hoping this could be unlocked again for me. I will purchase a new subscription plan if this can be done.

    Thank you.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Unknown

  • Hi there,

larsmarketing.home.blog and larserikcasperferm.com were exactly the same site. All WordPress.com sites get a free subdomain on our system, in your case larsmarketing.home.blog, and your custom domain was applied over it, like a dust jacket on a book.

The reason your site wouldn’t appear at the larserikcasperferm.com domain is because, while you can buy just a domain for a site, a paid plan is required to set that domain as the primary address on your site. Without a paid plan, the domain will just redirect people back to the free subdomain – that’s why it appeared that the won’t “talk to each other” :)

I’ve now restored larsmarketing.home.blog to your account. Please go to Upgrades ->Plans and buy an annual paid plan – the Personal Plan will be sufficient. Let us know here once you’ve done that, and we can restore the domain and make sure it’s set as the site’s primary address for you.

If you prefer you can also buy a monthly plan instead, but then you’ll need to pay separately for the domain registration (a free domain is only included in our annual plans). In that case, let us know you prefer this, and we can send you a separate link to pay for the domain itself.

Or we can send you a link to pay for the domain only, without you buying a plan, but then you again won’t be able to set the domain as the primary address and, while it will take people to your site, they’ll see the free address in their browsers.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi kokkieh,

Thank you for such a timely response and detailed answer. I see now why I was so confused.

I have now upgraded my plan (annually). Thank you for your effort!

  • Glad I can help :)

I’ve restored your domain and set it as primary on your site, so you should be good to go.

Note that the domain is included in the plan for the first year; from next year the domain will require a separate renewal payment on top of the plan’s.

Let us know if we can help with anything else.
