Deleted acct

I deleted my Gmail acct (email visible only to moderators and staff) and a yahoo acct too (email visible only to moderators and staff). I tried to start a new acct with my Gmail and it says I cant. That one was Sleeping On The Side Of The Road…..

I’d really rather not have to wait 30 days or something to start a fresh page with my gmail. If possible.

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

You could have avoided this issue by changing the account email address. That would have immediately freed the email address to be used on a different account.

However, you apparently didn’t know that and instead deleted the account thinking or hoping that it would free the email address to be used on another account. It does, but not immediately, because the following applies, from the Account Restoration section of the Close My Account support page:

It is possible to reverse an account closure for the first 30 days after an account is closed. If you realize you closed your account in error, please contact us immediately. We will be able to assist you in reopening your account during this 30 day window. Once the 30 days have passed, all of your sites and account data are purged and cannot be restored.

Please note that during this 30 day window your account data persists, which means that you cannot use your account email address to sign up for a new WordPress.com account. Once the 30 days are up and your account is purged, your email will be freed to use with a new account.

An easy way to resolve the issue might be to restore the deleted account, and then change the email address on that account. I’m not sure that this will make the email address immediately available, since the account restoration might take time, and I haven’t encountered this precise scenario before. I’ll call for staff attention to the topic. They’ll know for sure if my suggestion will work, and you’ll need staff assistance should you decide to do the account restoration. Staff will respond here.

    Hi catamountcyclist,

The information @musicdoc1 provided is correct — account closures can be reversed for the first 30 days but the email address cannot be used to create a new account during that time.

Please reply to the confirmation email we sent when the account was closed so we can follow up with you there about the next steps for freeing up the email address.
