deleted blog

Hi, I deleted by blog site mariarosareyero.wordpress.com, since I wanted to change the name to mariareyero.wordpress.com. However, instead of transferring the link, it created a duplicated blog. I deleted without knowing that traffic from the first blog will not be re-directed to the new one. Can I get it back? That way I could put a hyperlink to the new blog myself?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Good Morning – Once a .wordpress.com blog is deleted it is gone forever. Nobody is able to use that domain again, and it is not recycled. You will not be able to recover mariarosareyero.wordpress.com.

  • Sorry – I am not sure why my reply posted twice.

    Thank you Liz! Bummer!

I wish they said the domain would not be recyclable before the final deletion. Other blog sites have the recyclability function!

You also cannot edit comments! (Or I see erase threads you created…). I am all tuckered out for today of WordPress :(
Maybe on another day I will bring my blog site up. Thank you.

  • Domains and usernames are not recycled for privacy reasons. This prevents anyone from registering them in the future and pretending to be you.

You aren’t able to erase or delete any threads here in the forums. Other users are able to search through the forums to try and find help in previous threads. You may mark this thread ‘resolved’ on your end to close it up.

Sorry, I didn’t have better news! Take care :)

I understand the privacy concern, however it does not exist when the same account is trying to create the domain –the ownership is traceable to the same person by WordPress. Again, other websites allow this. If it is going to be a permanent deletion, I have two suggestions that give better workability to the users: 1) announce before deletion that the domain will not be re-usable (not only that the deletion is permanent); and/or 2) have a 3-5 day deletion hold (where there is an option for recovery only for 3-5 days!

  • The first sentence of the Delete Site support guide reads, “Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address.”
