deleted blog, custom domain – possible to reinstate empty?
-
I had mapped a custom domain (CIODOJO) and then deleted the blog. I did read the dire warnings and clicked yes I’m sure three times. Well… I understand the content is gone (I did back it up), but is there any way to get the custom domain reinstated?
Blog url: http://ciodojo.com -
I think you can transfer the domain mapping to another blog – but you need staff help to do that – where do you want to transfer the domain mapping to?
I will flag this for staff help

Hi there, it looks like your domain is actually registered through Network Solutions, so you should be able to log into your NS domain registration control panel and update your nameservers if you’d like to point the domain to a different host.
http://who.wildwestdomains.com/whois.aspx?domain=ciodojo.com&prog_id=wildwestdomains
If you’d like to restore your ciodojo.wordpress.com site, on the other hand, just let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

Thanks Kathy. I have been trying to point it to another host (not WordPress), yet no matter what I try it keep redirecting me to WordPress. I used to have the NS1/2.WORDPRESS.COM set up as nameservers over at Network Solutions, but I no longer do. Can you “release” my domain from your nameservers?
Thanks!

Hi there – I’ve deselected ciodojo.com as your WordPress site’s primary domain here:
https://ciodojo.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=domain-options
I also unsubscribed your account from domain mapping.
Let me know if you still have any trouble updating the nameservers.
I also disabled auto-renewal on your two upgrades – the domain mapping and the custom design – since you don’t want to keep the WordPress blog anymore. (You can reactivate auto-renewal here: https://ciodojo.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades)
If you have any further difficulty, please let me know.
