Deleted blog is still showing up

I followed the directions to delete my site, received confirmation link and clicked it. Site is still active.

Does is normally take some time to delete? When I go back to my email and click the link, it says site has been removed. I can’t log back into the dashboard…now it says I do not have admin rights.

Is this the gone blog you are asking about?

    rhorst5534.wordpress.com is no longer available.

The authors have deleted this site.

Try clearing your browser cache and forcing a page reload

Thanks. I cleared my cache. I do get that message when I click on the link from my confirmation email…but the site I was trying to delete was http://www.eastchippewacob.com. It is still showing up. Now when I try to log in I am told I no longer have admin rights.

I am just trying to help the church out with the site. The original owner died, the family gave me the access information. The church and the family just want the site removed. They had been trying to do it themselves for quite awhile…but did not know how to access the dashboard. It was very frustrating for them. I will be setting up a new website for them…that is more suited for their needs, and easier to manage.

http://eastchippewacob.com/ – is alive and well

If you were logged in as an Admin it looks like you clicked on a “leave blog” link

The only one that can delete a blog is the blog owner – there is another problem in that they have a custom domain name – do you want to keep the domain name and move it to a new blog at some point?

You need to get the owner log-in again to delete the site – but I suggest that you don’t delete the site (there is an issue with the custom domain name) – but set the site to “Private” – that keeps everyone out – saves the content in case you want to reuse any of it – and you can also just rework the content and use the same blog and custom domain name

    to set to private

Dashboard >> Home >> Settings >> Reading > Visible to only those I choose

I will also flag this for the staff to help in case you need additional assistance

Thanks. They do not want the domain name. They are creating a brand new site, new name etc. I tried to set it as private at first, but it did not work. I did not realize I would have to do something on the domain side.

This is the info I get when the owner logs in.

User rhorst5534 Cannot Access the Dashboard Requested

You are logged in as “rhorst5534” and do not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for “East Chippewa Church of the Brethren”. If you are not “rhorst5534”, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are “rhorst5534” and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

We are using the only login information we have. We have nothing else to go on.

I logged in again…got the dashboard but not access to the site. Says I have no sites.

The staff can see who the owner account is and give you a bit more guidance than I can

If you leave a comment on the blog and the comments are set to “Moderate” the blog owner should get an email if the defaults were not changed

it sounds like the account you are logging in with is not the original blog owner

    @rhorst5534

I see that you deleted a blog recently, but it wasn’t the site in question. I’m going to send you a private message and we can work out account recovery options from there.
