Deleted blog – No email
-
Hi there,
This morning, I somehow completely misunderstood the rules about deleting a blog — I didn’t do enough reading before going through the online sequence to delete the blog. It was a stupid mistake on my part. I know I had to confirm that I understood at multiple points in the process — I was making silly assumptions and mislead myself.
However, I quickly did some reading on the issue and realized my mistake (within a few minutes, pathetically). From that reading, my understanding from the online explanation (http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/) is that I should have received a confirmation email which is required to actually confirm deleting my blog – but I don’t seem to have ever received that email. I was hoping that in the email, there would be a way to stop the deletion of the blog.
Is there any recourse whatsoever in this situation? Any way I can chat with a WordPress team member about the situation? Even though it was a free WordPress URL, it was important, and I’m desperate to fix the issue.
Thanks so much for your help.

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.
This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.
If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.
If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

What is the address of the blog in question? If you can still view the blog, then don’t do anything. If you try to access the blog, but get a message that says “the authors have deleted the blog”, then it’s too late.

Unfortunately, I get the “deleted the blog” message. So there’s no way to reverse the situation, even though I never received the confirmation email?
Thanks for the response.

All I can suggest is that you bring to the attention of staff that, per your claim, you never got an email asking you to confirm the deletion.

Wait a minute… before you contact staff, could you just confirm the URL of the deleted blog?
-
I would, but I was setting the blog up for a prominent client and the URL is clearly tied to them — which plays into the whole desperation aspect.
Fair enough on contacting staff — better a long shot than no shot at all, I guess.

I was asking for the URL because I’m now wondering if the site was hosted by WordPress.com after all (hence the absence of confirmation email). As you probably know, there are two kinds of WordPress: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.com Staff can only answer for blogs that are hosted by them.
-
Oh, it was definitely hosted on WordPress – in the sitename.wordpress.com format.
I know it might sound silly, since I said it was for a prominent client… But in this instance, all they need is a WordPress-hosted blog.

Thanks again, airodyssey. I’ve sent in a support ticket explaining the situation, so I’m holding out hope that there will be some way to resolve this situation.
