What is the URL starting with http:// of the post in question?
You may be able to recover an earlier Post Revision. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/ Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post. If you’re not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them.
See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash
If you cannot locate a revision or restore from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.

Important note: Provided you did not create the post in the new Beep Beep Boop editor where it’s saved only on your browser, and is not auto-saved to the servers for your blog you can locate a revision.
I recommend:
- Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New - Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
- Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
- Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
- Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/
- Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at

To find the Revisions screen, you will need to go to the edit screen for the post you want to see the revisions for.But I can’t find edit screen for my deleted post so that doesn’t seem to be any good. I am a newbie with WP, much appreciate yr help.

I created the post in the old editor and updated it yesterday in Beep Beep. I don’t know the precise url but key words include Orwell, China, Dong Leshan, Nineteen Eighty-four if that helps

Much to my relief I found a recent cached version in Yahoo (not in Google!). Can you suggest a fairly quick way of restoring it in WP, simply cutting and pasting it into draft deletes all the links (of which there are lots). Thanks again.

There is no fast and easy way to do this. You have to copy and paste into a new post and backdate the datestamp.
