Deleted blog still shows up in Google search results

    Hello

    We had a blog on WordPress.com which we moved to a self hosted WordPress installation on a domain we own. After creating the new site, I went in the wordpress.com blog dashboard ans deleted the blog and all of it’s content. Meanwhile, 2 weeks later, it still shows up in Google search results and shows this page : http://lilletoastmasters.wordpress.com

    Since it no longer shows up in my blog list, I have no options to delete this page and I can’t even re-create it. I simply get a message saying that the name is taken.

    Does this go away after a while ? Is there something else I need to do in order to remove the page completely. This is quite a problem because the old adress ranks higher in SEO than our new one.

    It goes away after a number of weeks or months. The more you blog on your new site, the faster the transition happens.

    Had you not deleted the old blog you could have bought the Site Redirect Upgrade and sent visitors and search engines to your new site.
