Deleted Code – ruined website
-
Hi, I have deleted my footer.php code by accident and cannot get it to ‘update’ even if I copy and paste the full code back in (from another website of someone who had done the same thing deleting their code). I have Sydney 1.53 theme. If someone could copy and paste Sydney 1.53 code will this work?

Hi there, You are using the open source version of WordPress. You will be best helped at the WordPress.org forums for self-hosted websites you can follow this link: https://wordpress.org/support/
You can read more about the differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Please note that this forum is dedicated to WordPress.com hosted sitesIf someone could copy and paste Sydney 1.53 code will this work?
You could upload the theme files in the theme folder in the root of your site.
Anyhow, there are a couple of ways to fix it.
You could also ask your hosting provider to restore a backup of when the site was still intact.
You could activate another theme and delete Sydney. Reinstall Sydney and the activate it.If you change the code in the appearance editor (very risky by the way) a restore backup is advised. Hope this will help a bit.
