deleted domain name by mistake

  Hi, I am building another website and wanted to use my wordpress domain. I cancelled the subscription but then made the mistake of deleting the domain too, because I am useless and didn’t know about domain mapping. Is there any way I can get it back? Or just make sure it is deleted so that I can use it for my other website?

  Hi, sorry for the slow reply.

  I went to ‘domains’, then ‘cancel’. It did warn me I might not be able to get it back but I didn’t really know what I was doing… :(

  @megiacobini Can you give us a little more info?

  If the domain you deleted was domain.wordpress.com then as @thebud15 said, it won’t be possible to recover that URL.

  However, if you mean a custom domain like domain.com that you purchased as a part of a paid Plan, please let us know so we can flag this for Staff assistance in trying to recover that custom domain for you.

  The deleted domain name was a custom domain name which I paid for. The domain name is http://www.meganiacobinidefazio.com

  Hi megiacobini,

  In this instance, I’ve managed to restore the domain for you.

  If you want your visitors to see that domain rather than meganiacobinidefazio.wordpress.com, then you will need to set meganiacobinidefazio.com as your primary domain. There are instructions for doing so here:

  Hi,

  If you want to use your custom domain on a site outside of WordPress.com, you have a couple of options:

  1. Keep the domain with WordPress.com and update the nameservers to point to your new host.

  2. Transfer the domain to another registrar so that both your domain and your hosting are managed in the same place.
