Deleted File Still Available

  On March 28th, we deleted a PDF from our media. It was still available, so on April 2nd, we re-added the PDF but as a blank document. The blank document did not replace the PDF and it was still available as the original document. So on April 5th, we deleted the PDF again but it is still available.

  This was published on accident and needs to be removed immediately. What can we do to ensure this is no longer available?

  Yes, we followed that. It is still available on the front-end and does not show up in our media (uur activity also shows it was deleted). We even search for duplicates, just in case (none found).

  Have you cleared you cache and try to reload the site?
  Sometimes changes are not visible until you do that. I hope it works!

  Yes, I have cleared my cache, tried incognito, tried different browsers, and tried different computers. It is still available.

  Unless there is a additional built-in cache in the back-end of WordPress.com that users can clear? I’m not that familiar with WordPress.com as I typically work on self-hosted WP sites.

  From researching the issue, my understanding is that WordPress.com also has their own caching (that users can’t clear) that last for 3 days. However, it’s been over 3 days, and the file is still there.

  Hi! The file is called plusfinalreport2016.pdf. It is not on the site itself but can be accessed directly at https://mainebudget2013.files.wordpress.com/2017/01/plusfinalreport2016.pdf.

  We need it fully deleted. Thank you.

  I have deleted it from our cache. Please clear your browser’s cache and see if you can load the file.

  Thank you so much! I now get a 404 error. Is there anything we should do on our side to ensure deletion in the future?

  It eventually gets purged from the cache but the timeline is not exact. If it’s something sensitive or timely just let us know and we can do it for you.
